Small Frame Fa-Jing or Small Internal Explosive Energy: Also “Small Frame” Single Push Hands.
Erle Montaigue taught “Small Frame” at his 2010 Summer Camp. The whole camp’s theme was “Small Frame”, allowing students to see and participate and learn the highest levels of just about everything. Even if a student is not ready for this level of learning, it is always important to see their teacher doing the highest level so that their inner mind knows what is to come.
Here, Erle teaches an exciting area of “Small Fa-Jing”. We begin with the larger fa-jing which is by the way much smaller and more explosive than what most teach. Then we take it down into small fa-jing where there is hardly any body movement. Erle demonstrates this power on punching mitts which shows that even more power can be got using Small Frame Fa-Jing. He then continues this way and takes you into Healing Fa-Jing which is often called “Acupuncture Without Needles”. This is where we take that immense power generated by Self Defence Small Fa-jing and put it into the internal realms so that only the “Energy” or “Qi” is emitted into the acu point that needs healing. This is the highest level of healing and necessary for all acupuncturists who only know where to stick needles but who do not know how to “put energy”.
Erle also covers an important area of Small Frame Push Hands of which there are three methods: High, Middle and Low. It shows that you do not need to hold your arms out from the body in order to stop powerful attacks. Attacks happen in your face, so this way of push hands takes you into the realms of self defence push hands and works hand in hand with “Small Fa-Jing”.

Small Frame Large San-Sau Two Person Set Volume One
Filmed at Erle Montaigue’s Summer Camp 2010, this series takes your two person set of Large San-Sau to the highest level of “Small Frame”. The whole camp’s theme was “Small Frame”, allowing students to see and participate and learn the highest levels of just about everything. Even if a student is not ready for this level of learning, it is always important to see their teacher doing the highest level so that their inner mind knows what is to come.
Large San-Sau teaches us “how” to move in a self defence situation. It teaches us to move as the attack is beginning to be launched. It gives us a “reflexive” mind that will move the body immediately upon his attack being thrown at us. Also covered is a small section on Small Frame Push Hands which is also relevant to San-Sau.
Small Frame is where Tai Chi ch’uan and Baguazhang come to their pinnacle. This is where it all ends and what we have been working toward for many years. Once learnt, “Small Frame” methods will then grown into everything you do an give you real self defence!

What Yang Lu-ch'an Knew: VOLUME 3 (This Level of Tai Chi is the Highest
Level) This series should NOT be learnt before climbing the ladder, it is
only intended for very advanced Tai Chi practitioners)! I have only been
keeping this level quiet because to go onto it without first covering and
mastering the lower levels would not give you anything!
Tai Chi: Secrets: Putting It All Together Volume 3
(NOT FOR GENERAL SALE) PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS TITLE UNTIL YOU HAVE
CONTACTED US TO GET APPROVAL!
This is the stuff Tai Chi is made of. Please note that this series of DVDs
is ONLY available to our most trusted customers & instructors and
students! It will under no
circumstances be sold to anyone else until they have proven themselves and
even then some more! This is where the "lights go on"!
I began my Videos with the idea that I would not hold things back like
others would. So as you can see, I now have more videos on every possible
subject of the Internal
Fighting/Healing arts than any other instructor and was also the FIRST
person ever to put Tai Chi onto Video way back.
However, this "fault" of mine has caused me some grief in that others have
then taken MY information that I have fought for hard and long to get over
the past 35 years and
they have used it to gain money without even acknowledging that it was
from me that they obtained the information! Whole books have been
published about things that
could ONLY have ever come directly or indirectly from myself! So now that
I am finally into the final stages of one's Tai Chi training and giving
out the stuff that really
turns the lights on (as all who have been taught this will tell you), I am
forced to withhold this information from everyone other than my most
trusted students and instructors. Takes you up to the first two kicks in
YLC form.

This volume carries on from V. 5 covering those postures and movements
from the Old Yang Style of Yang Lu-ch'an from from Fan Through
Back right up until Wave Hands Like Clouds:
Yang Lu-ch'an invented a brief fighting solo form for each

the great fighting and healing benefits from the postures, Lu-ch'an gives us a
form to practice. These forms teach us about fa-jing, dim-mak and how
internalize the postures thus making the maximum use of one's body for healing
and self defence.

How to: And How Not To Kick in the Internal Arts
Here, Erle Montaigue shows that most kicks will not work in a street fight! Use them for the exercise and stretch and health benefits, or if you have a penchant for tournament karate etc. But NEVER in the street. Erle teaches exactly the body mechanics of "silly" high kicks as well as the more practical lower kicks to the legs. how to gain power when kicking from the front leg, never using the rear leg as this is telegraphed. Back Kicks: Back Turning Kicks: Back Spinning Kicks: Crescent Kicks: Roundhouse Kicks: Reverse Crescent Kicks: Jumping (really silly) turning kicks: Double Kicks: Leg kicks of all types: Useful Kicks: Are all covered.

Hands: This Is How We Do It: Volume 3
Eli Montaigue, Erle’s son and now head of the
WTBA has viewed over many weeks all of Erle’s DVDs on the differing levels of Yang
Lu-ch’an’s old form. This was done in an effort to bring WTBA instructors into line
as to what and how to teach this complicated form. Eli shows the various mistakes
that most instructors make when they for instance, go straight into the more advanced
of Erle’s forms rather than beginning at the beginning etc. He then filmed this
class so that all WTBA instructors would be teaching the same form! This volume
is 2 hours and covers from the beginning
to half way through the 2nd third up to the Wave Hands Like Clouds set.
NB:// Eli does not teach this form,
but rather show individual postures.

The
Special Energy Flows On the 8 Extra Meridians in Yang Lu-ch’an’s Form: Volume One
This is an exciting area of your Tai Chi training
as it presents for the first time, the special
Qi flows along the 8 Extra Meridians!
There are two types of energy flows in the body during training in this form. There
is the “ACTIVATION” of the Qi postures which activate the Qi at the 12 main meridians
during training and there are the “Special Energy Flows” along the 8 extra meridians.
The 12 Main energy flows heal the body mainly
while the 8 extra meridian flows give you
the internal and external power over very short distances. When one’s training
is beginning to rise to a more advanced “Small Frame” level, you will begin to feel
these energy flows which will then change the way you will perform the postures.
If one were to teach this, it would not be correct as it would be purely physical
and not internal. You must wait until you have risen to that high level before the
special flows will change the way you do each posture. Here, Erle teaches exactly
where the energy flows for these special power moves so that the student can be
aware of it once it begins. For instance, sometimes, the Qi will enter through the
Yang Chiao Mei from the ground and then join with the Dai Mai meridian to cause
great centrifugal power for striking etc. Volumes one and two cover the whole of
the first third of the Yang Lu-ch’an form, also covered are some nice power Qigong
methods.

Push Hands: This Is How We Do It. Volume One: Double Push Hands
On this DVD, Erle Montaigue takes you from scratch,
exactly how to perform REAL push hands. Not the silly, “you push me, I push you”
type where both partners have huge low open stances but rather a
self defence type of push hands, that
teaches you how to fight at a sub-conscious level. The power for striking and defence
comes from push hands and the more you practice, the more powerful you will become.
All of the correct muscle groups are exercised for self defence and not for competition.
This series is a must for anyone wishing to advance in their Tai Chi training and
indeed in their self defence ability over-all. Anyone, from any system will gain
great power by practising this method.

Tai Chi Cornerstones
The Tai Chi Cornerstones are the building blocks for advanced Tai Chi ch'uan practice. The basic form gives you the foundation, then the cornerstones give you the solid corners on which to build your "house". There are 4 cornerstones and all are based upon the Tai Chi Classics left to us by the Masters of old. We have the "Crown being pulled up by string" which is the first and most important as it teaches us exactly where to place the weight. Then we have the legs, the waist and the hands. All 4 are then joined and co-ordinated so that your Tai Chi builds into your advanced practice.

Quite an exciting area of one's advanced Tai Chi training and in fact any internal martial/healing arts training. This is where we learn about how the hands in particular work in activating and manifesting Qi for healing and especially for medical Qigong methods. You never notice it when you see some advanced Tai Chi Master practice, however, one of his or her hands will be activating the Qi by moving over the Tantien in a certain manner while the other hand is manifesting that activation for healing on another person. This set was made at Erle Montaigue's annual summer camp in Rostock Northern Germany in August of 2007 over 5 days. Please read an article on this here: http://www.taiji-qigong.co.uk/Free_To_Download/Erle's%20Articles/Articles/tai_chi_commect.htm This covers how Baguazhang does the same thing, but the principles are all the same.

This series of
DVDs is being shot during Erle’s Invitation only instructor’s classes,
the 4th of which was held in Llangadog, Wales UK 20th and 21st of January 2007.
The traditional way that one would learn Tai Chi, was to not speak. You would
simply watch and join in behind your instructor as he would perform the form
movements. This way, you would pick up a little each time physically with the
sub-conscious body remembering and taking in the inner movements of the instructor.
This is why they say that it took some 6 years just to learn the form. In modern
times, we had to have a way to teach it a little quicker, so the form was broken
down into components and taught as individual postures and movements. So you
have two sides of the learning way. So I decided after 40 years of doing this
stuff to take the middle road and teach this wonderful art to a handful of dedicated
students, in a semi-traditional way. So we took the form and broke it down into
a number of parts whereby the student would watch, then join in and allow his
or her body to pick up internally what was happening. Then after some time,
we would stop and take a look at this module and make any corrections and give
advice before going on to the next module. This way has worked out really well
with all saying that they found it challenging to leave behind old ways of learning
but also very rewarding in that their body would pick it up much quicker. So
here we have the first 4 modules of this method of learning, which is also a
more advanced method encompassing all of "How We Do Tai Chi". The waving form,
the spiral or Silk Reeling Form, the Stone Hands Form etc., This is simply How
Tai Chi Is Done. It doesn't replace the old breaking it all down method of learning
as most will probably wish to stick with that way. But for those who wish to
take this art into the sub-conscious realms, this might prove invaluable. And
even when you have already learnt the form to a degree in the old way, it is
quite challenging to learn it this way and many of our most senior instructors
found this very helpful to their understanding.

This is the final in the series and takes you from the end of Volume 8 to the end of the third 3rd. This volume is particularly beautiful as it includes some really useful and beautiful qigong methods, like the Spiral way of Slant Flying opens up the 7 Gates to spiritual Qi when done in the Spiral manner. The next postures of Fair Lady Works Shuttles, then takes that energy input and locks it in to the Tantien. The 3rd third has been really formulated to work the Qi even more so. The final moves from Step Forward to 7 Stars up to the punch after the Lotus kick really get the body working in complete harmony with the inner flow of Qi, then the explosive punch really grounds that Qi into the Tantien.

Not really 10,000, this is just the way that the Chinese have of describing that there are a lot of them. 10,000 seems to be the number that they use for everything that has to be done a lot. Here, Erle Montaigue carries on with the long awaited series on the main applications from the postures of the Yang Lu-ch'an form showing not only the basics but also the dim-mak applications following each posture. This is not meant to teach the Old Yang Style as one should already know it, it is just to demonstrate and to teach what each posture is for. On this volume Erle takes you from the posture known as High pat on Horse just before the first kicking section and up to the posture called High Pat On Horse, (but not including) in the third 3rd.

On this volume,
Erle talks about the power that is gained from the Internal systems and how
to gain it through various Qigong methods. Not only the physical power of being
able to use fa-jing to strike with amazing power from very short distances,
but mainly, the power that you can gain to help you in your daily life; how
to change your circumstances; how to get things to happen. You cannot use this
power to hut others or for evil reasons, only for the good of others and yourself.
These internal methods will teach you how to gain this power and how to use
it to change your life or to set you onto the correct path that you should be
on already but perhaps may not be able to see the 'wood for the trees' so to
speak.
Erle also continues on how to teach the basic form to stark beginners.

The Secret Houses of Yang are what makes Taijiquan great.
This is what distinguishes the 'red herring' Tai Chi from the real thing.
What makes a silly, 'you push me, I push you' tai chi into a real fighting
self defence system. These 12 houses or rings as they were often called,
were what the Masters taught only their most treasured and trusted students
and or family members and even went as far as giving us all the wrong information
to stop us from getting the 'family jewels' as Yang Sau-chung once told
me. Why is it that we are told that Tai Chi Ch'uan means 'Supreme Ultimate
Fighting' when we are taught this silly thing of Pushing Hands? Why would
you want to do that? You do not push each other in real fighting. This way
of pushing hands was also a red herring to keep us off the trail of the
real thing of 'Joining Hands', which is the way that we are taught how to
fight in Tai Chi. Joining Hands is en eye opening experience and will probably
answer many of your questions and fears about learning how to use Tai Chi
for fighting.
Erle Montaigue teaches in this volume the third house of Yang, the way of
Joining Hands, how to feel the weight and deal with it, how to stop an attack
with only two inches of movement, how to really move a force of 4000 lbs
with only 4 oz. That is what it tells us in the classics so this is what
w e should do!
This volume takes you from then end of V. 7 up to the postures
known as 'Turn Around & Chop With Fist". Also included is the 8th 'Silk
reeling Fa-Jing' training method using punching mitts.

This is the second of the Tai Chi
lessons in Swansea covering the advanced "Silk Reeling" in Tai Chi Ch'uan
(see below). We covered up to "arn" as this gives you a balanced set of
movements. Often when someone is beginning to get it right, and they only
perform half of a balanced set, they will actually feel physically ill!
A couple of our Swansea students found this to be correct. hence my giving
the full balanced set at this class. We also covered the 2nd of the Fa-jing
reeling exercises which really got the Qi flowing!

Ch'an Ssu Chin or "Silk Reeling"
is an important part of one's Tai Chi training. In fact it is an integral
part of the advanced way of performing Tai Chi. Everything in Tai Chi is
done in spirals, in a slow (sometimes explosive) manner, in just the same
way that silk has to be pulled from a cocoon so as not to break the thread.
Fa-Jing's correct name is actually "Fa-Jing Ch'an Ssu Chin" or Explosive
Energy Silk Reeling, where we throw out explosive energy and then bring
it back. So we are given 8 fa-jing training methods in order to gain this
ability. These will also be taught on this 8 title series beginning with
Volume One showing the first of these training methods. This series is taken
from Erle Montaigue's first lessons in Swansea in Wales. So if you weren't
able to get there or were there and need some back up, this series is ideal.
Volume One is now available and we will be filming one volume per month
until the eight are done.

This way of performing the Tai Chi
form is phenomenal in what it does for you health wise. This is real Qigong
at its highest level. (See Article
on Tai Chi Qigong). This is the Tai Chi that will give you longevity and
great good health into older age helping to fix such things as Arthritis
and other problems of the joints and sinews etc. You will notice that you
have much better mobility and stretch with no 'after-pain' from doing low
postures etc. Your mind will improve, with a balanced mind and body moving
in co-ordination.
Personally, I have found this way of doing Tai Chi to be the most wonderful
experience, giving peace of mind and great happiness with a totally positive
outlook. So it is excellent for those with mind problems such as bi-polar
etc.

Most so-called masters of
Taijiquan regard single push hands as an entry into double push hands and
usually push their students into double push hands long before they should
even be thinking about it, or worse, by-passing single push hands altogether!

I discovered that many of my students, although
they had the physical movements correct, they just weren’t getting the internal
development. So I took a look at what they were dong and developed a way
of teaching how using what they already knew, form and push hands. Now,
most them at least have a better understanding of how to gain it and how
to use it. (The Internal Qi)

3 circle Qigong for the body. It puts body into balance. Puts Yin Yang
energy into balance, gets rid of blockages through meridians.
Qigong is done while learning the Yang Cheng Fu Form to get medical benefits
fast. The Yang Cheng-Fu Form is a moving qigong it takes time to learn
and must be done correctly to receive medical benefits.
Fifteen minutes is the minimum amount of time for this Qigong. It can
be done as long as you wish as long as you split the time for the first
and second posture. (2/3-1st & 1/3-2nd ).
A. First posture, raise hands palm
tile position to shoulder height. Palms facing like on the top sides of
a basketball, fingers slightly apart.
B. Second posture, lower hands palm
tile position to the lower Tantien, palms facing like on the bottom sides
of a basketball, fingers slightly apart.
Grow energetic roots back into the ground with Qigong or Tai Chi movements
one movement has much energy.
Basic Set 3 Circle Standing Qigong
Posture Instructions, See MTG10 all positions.
Stance takes away tension
Relax so much as to only use enough tension in the body to hold the position
so Qi flows freely through the meridians.
Do not close eyes you want awareness in martial arts meditation. Eyes can
close only so far as a sliver of light gets through. The gaze should be
straight ahead, aware of everything around you, your mind is thinking about
nothing. You hear and see everything that is happening, let it just come
in and go out.
1. Tongue remains on the hard pallet at all times.
2. Legs shoulder width apart (inside of foot is lined up with armpit).
3. Scrunch toes under it drags Yang energy down to the bubbling well K1 point. In electricity like poles detract, unlike poles attract each other. So scrunching our toes under we make our K1 point Yin to the outsides of the feet, which are Yang. Then the Yang energy is dragged down to the bobbling well point (K1). That’s the point the energy is said to spring from. First it comes from the tan tian (Co3) down to the K1 point then it comes through the body in order to do it working energy-that is why the toes are scrunched under.
4. Bend Knees sit straight down, back vertical, buttocks tucks under no hollow on the back the back is straight, chin tucked in do not bend the neck, neck should be comfortably straight in line with the back down to the sub tailar joint, no tension in the neck, too much bend can damage your knees. Not enough bend no fire builds up in the tan tien, to cause activation of energy. Because you are looking down at your feet visualize your knees I inch past your toes to correct for a parallax view, this will put your knees in line with your toes.
5. Round Shoulders do not raise them. Round the chest, do not stick the chest out.
6. Tongue touches the hard pallet Breath in to lower abdomen, chest does not raise when you breathe in. The muscles pull the diaphragm down sucking in air through the windpipe, do not force the breath.
7. Breathing is done in and out the nose, inhale into the belly (Diaphragmatic Breathing), called a natural breath. All fa-jing movements in this form use a reverse breath.
8. Raise Hands and Arms from side position to the bottom of the neck like you are holding a big tree away from your body, not too close, arms slightly bent. Fingers are lightly apart not closed, not stretched, naturally apart, and layered one on top of the other not even, called the Dim-Mak Claw or Beautiful Hand. One line of skin between the thumb and forefinger, this activates C4 and brings Yin and Yang energy into your palms, brings a circle into your palms. We have 3 circles, hands feet and palms. Start moving hands to upper hand position, shoulder height. Hold the position 2/3 of your total time e.g. 15 minuets hold for 10 minuets. Open the qua, a little less than fist distance under the arms, if arms are too close to the body it impedes Qi flow.
9. Very slowly lower hands to the tan tien (that’s were Qi is stored, 3 inches below the navel). Hold position 5 minuets which would be 1/3 of the time e.g. 15 minutes.
END on an in breath let arms flow up to the sides of your body very slowly on the whole of the in breath, palms down, bring them across in front of your body to shoulder height, then as you exhale move energy back down to lower tan tien let your hands flex standing up at the same time,.
Relax hands and arms and let feet unfold, walk around slowly, no fast movements, nothing cold to drink after finishing Qigong. The ideal time to do Qigong is at dawn and dusk in nature.
Things that are likely to happen to you while doing qigong everyone experiences
something different. Body starts to shake more or less depending on how
sick you are. After some time the shaking comes down to a little buzz, then
after some more time the shaking will dissipate and you will have a pleasant
faint buzz, meditation state thinking about nothing. The shaking indicates
the Qi is going down to the Bubbling Well Point and coming up to create
tension in the legs. Rocking forward on in breath and Rocking back on out
breath. Let it happen by itself. It activates K1 a little more than standing
still.
The upper heavenly circulation the tongue joins the 2 meridians together
GV (Yang) and CV (Yin). CV starts at the base of the tongue down to the
Tantien then back to CV1 then up the GV.
To get more abundant flow of energy from CV1 up your back to the middle eye (upper Tantien point), down the side of the nose into the roof of the mouth just inside your upper lip (GV28). By placing the tongue to the upper pallet for a complete circulation of Qi throughout your body, this happens normally or you will die. Qi is your life force. In putting the tongue on the pallet you create a much better flow of energy for your Qigong, it’s like putting a stronger conductor there for the electricity.
On the inhalation think of
total flow, CV1 up the middle
of your back, over your head, feeling a buzzing sensation in the 3rd eye,
breaking then coming into your upper lip GV28.
On the exhalation imagine the force going down to the Tantien
point, when you inhale again suck it down to CV1 then up your back and down
to the Tantien again.
Tai Chi is a short way of saying Tai Chi Ch’uan it means supreme ultimate fist or supreme ultimate boxing. Tai Chi is a great health art, also a great martial art. The two can never be separated, you cannot separate the Yin from the Yang. If you try to do Tai Chi just as an exercise or health dance, then you loose a great deal of the health benefits. Doing Tai Chi as self-defence only, you loose some of the self-defence benefits for not adding the healing parts of Tai Chi.
There’s a bunch of different postures, about 300 linking movements to form one long flowing set of movements. At a healing level it works on the 12 main and 8 extra acupuncture meridians in the body. It’s a flow of life giving force (Chi), its electricity, it baths our internal organs in life giving Chi, it’s the stuff that feeds our cells and holds our cells together. So when we die the electricity stops flowing, the cells break up and disintegrate. Every move you make in Tai Chi activates Chi (energy) in one of the different organs via the different meridians. Energy comes from the Tantien (Ming Men CV5) 3 inches below the navel a storage place for chi (energy). You need energy to simply lift your arms or hands. The Chinese worked out a bunch of movements that activates the meridians just as they would be activated in a 24 hour period, each organ being activated at a set time of day e.g. heart activates at 11am & 1pm, small intestines at 1pm & 3pm. When you are doing Tai Chi the movements emulate the activation of the chi through the meridians in a 24-hour period. When you are doing Tai Chi you activate these meridians 3 extra times in a 24-hour period.
Tai Chi is broken up into 3 thirds
1. First third - complete activation of Chi through the 12 acupuncture meridians exactly as it would happen through a normal day (1 rotation through all the meridians).
2. Second third - Activation happens again.
3. Third third - Activation happens again. You receive 3 extra rotations of active energy through the meridians

Yang Lu-ch'an loved the martial arts and would as a child study from anyone he could find to teach him. He had heard that the martial arts from the Chen Village taught by the Chen Family were very good. Being a 'family' style, it was very difficult for outsiders to even get past the front door of the Chen village, let alone be taught what they knew. So, yang Lu-ch'an devised a means whereby he could get into the village as a janitor and spy on the masters training. He became very good at Chen's Martial arts which was a system derived from the Shaolin Fighting arts. Meanwhile, a man called Zhiang-fa whose fighting ability was legendary also entered the Chen Village. His ability was far greater than anyone in the village so they asked him to teach them. Yang Lu-ch'an also asked to be taught as they were both outsiders, Zhiang also agreed to teach Yang.
Yang Lu-ch'an became so good at this 'new' art that he far outstripped even the Chen masters. The story goes that Yang found an old treatise written by Wang Tsung-yeuh on the floor of the Chen bakery and added what was in that treatise to what Zhiang had taught him. However, it is my belief that as Zhiang was a direct descendant of Wang, that he gave Yang a copy of this treatise. Wang could trace his lineage directly back to Chang San-feng, the founder of Dim-mak which later became H'ao Ch'uan (Loose Boxing) and even later because known as Taijiquan.
What Yang Lu-ch'an was taught and eventually invented was known in China as the pinnacle of all fighting systems at that time. It was explosive in action with leaps and explosive punches and palm attacks. Every movement was a devastating dim-mak strike. Later generations of the Yang family changed this form to come to what it is today, the Yang Cheng-fu Form (Yang's Grandson). Yang Cheng-fu left out all of the fa-jing movements and leaps so that all could learn Taijiquan and become healthy.
On this tape, Erle Montaigue teaches this original Yang Style of Yang Lu-ch'an at its basic level. Every movement is gone into in great detail showing even minute movements. It is possible to learn the Old Yang Style from this tape. However, it is advisable to have first learnt the Yang Cheng-fu version. It actually takes less time to learn both forms than to learn only the Old Style. The way Erle Montaigue teaches on tape is exactly the same way that he teaches in class. The only difference is that on tape there is even more detail given as he cannot obviously be there personally to correct.
MTG2
Yang Lu-Ch'an Old
Yang Style Form –
TCH – Invented by Yang Lu-Ch’an in the
early 1800’s.
The DVD includes comments on the history of Yang style Tai Chi. The old
Yang style taken from Chen style.
Explosive movements (Fa-jing), leaping kicks and low movements.
Martial arts application hidden within an abstract form.
Yang Cheng Fu took out a lot of the explosive movements for a more healing
way to do the form. Resulting in much benefit to the older people of his
town. Keeping the basic essence of Tai Chi.
Qigong is an integral part of Tai Chi training, good to learn before
you start learning the form. It builds up internal energy (Qi). See MTG1.
Breathing - When doing this form use the basic Qigong natural breath.
Yin in breath, Yang out breath. Basically when you raise your hands breath
in, lower your hands breath out. When your hands push out breath out, hands
pull in breath in.
Kicks are done on an in breath - Use a reverse breath. All Fa-jing movements
are done on a reverse breath. When you punch expel air, it’s an outward
movement (Yang) do a reverse breath push the stomach out, it releases all
the air. Stomach and breath push out on Fa-jing movements, out breath grounds
you, when you use a reverse breath it also protects you by release of air
from the stomach. It protects you against being winded because there is
no air left in the lungs.
Sung is an attitude - Chi extends to the palms and fingers and causes
a slight uncontrollable shake. If you are totally relaxed but not dead relaxed,
with a little bit of life in your palm to get the martial application coming
out, you will get a slight shake in the palm and fingers.
Qigong for Sung - Look through the dragon mouth point between thumb
and forefinger at end hold position.
In Tai Chi form never double weight the legs only at the beginning. The
first two moves are called preparation the knees are not bent and your weight
distribution is 50/50.
Three Stances in Tai Chi Stances
are done posting on right leg first or left.
1. Bow Stance - Stand both feet shoulder width apart, turn right foot out, move left foot forward in line with shoulder width apart only as far as it will go straightening your leg left foot flat to the ground. Post on back right leg
2. Heel Stance - Stand both feet one half shoulder width apart turn left foot out, move right foot forward in line with one half shoulder width apart as far as it will go by straightening your leg, place right heel on the floor with toes and foot pointing up, heel touching the ground no weight on it, post on the back leg.
3. Toe Stance - Stand both feet heels together turn left foot out, move right foot forward in line with heel touching heel as far as it will go by straightening your leg, place ball of foot on the floor while raising heel no weight on it, post on the back leg.
Single Whip Posture (stance) - Is not technically a bow stance, it’s slightly longer and slightly skinnier. Your hips can be slightly off, they don’t have to be toward the front like the bow stance.
Fa-jing -Your whole body does the movement. It must not just be a fast movement, it’s like you don’t know what your are doing, you give up your own ego and your self. It’s like a sneeze, you don’t know what you are doing for a split second. There must be an expulsion of energy and a reverse breath-when you breathe out the whole lower abdomen expands.

Pauchui or Cannon Fist Form & San-Sau (Taijiquan)
Yang Style – TCH – Two
main branches of San-Sau, two kinds of forms with similar differences as
that of Yang Lu Chan and Yang
Cheng Fu.
Three ways to do San-Sau
1. Slowly with control
2. A little faster, a little harder,
learning more control
3. Go at it really attacking and defending,
for advanced students. The more martial Shou-hou side of the
family, this form has explosive movements.
The
other San-Sau is more therapeutic, the Yang Cheng Fu version.
San–Sau means a style of free hands, done in the third stage.
Small San-Sau form is where we learn about the applications of all the postures
of the Yang Cheng Fu form.
Up until Single Whip. In MTG3 we learn about basic applications. There are
secret and advanced applications.
Swivelling movement on the heels with natural movement. Utilized body movement
to go to your hands.
Tai Chi is the most deadly martial art ever invented
In closing round the shoulders, round the back bone and then strike.
Every movement in Tai Chi is related to the energy flow in the human
body.
E.g.: If the energy flow goes down the attackers arm you strike
the arm back up and upset the whole energy of the attacker’s body.
Tai Chi Fist - thumb is resting on top of the index finger, slightly
tucked in and flush with the index
Yang hand full of Yin energy - Hand moves Yang Yin
Yin palm full of Yang energy - Hand moves Yin Yang
Yin Yin or Yang Yang is a pushing energy
Natural Stance Punch - Same hand, same foot.
Reverse Stance Punch - Left foot, right hand or vice versa.
E.g.: A spinning kick - turn arms first creating torque, then
leg releases being pulled in that direction.
E.g.: Hips torque and release the arm.
Large San-Sau solo forms - One does the A side, the other partner does
the B side.
1. use the radius bone it is stronger.
2. Using both bones would be hard to break,
so use both.
Adjust to the different body types of your partner
1. See all titles - Number
order #24 for explanation of video.
2. Small San-Sau Corrections
with Greg Crockett
3. Drill - Blocking and
striking upper and lower body. To learn subconscious reaction to where attackers
strikes are coming from.
4. Push Hands with Stuart
Heard. Push Hand technique and correction.

Basic Push Hands
Complete –
TCH −Yang and Chen style. Single Push,
Double Push, Da-Lu, Push Feet, Applications. Not done for sport or competitive
ways, do not try to beat the other person or push them over. It’s a great
training aid for timing, balance and weighting (how much weight to use to
redirect their force) an incoming force. Push Hands only have push and
p'eng, Build up your strength with push hands, field workers of old were
already strong.
Right
foot forward (forward bow stance).
Keep hand away from chest, bend elbow 90 degrees, wrist is in your centre.
Yang push hand
If
he pushes to your centre take his hand to the right,
If he pushes up to the left take his hand up move to the right and continue
as with a centre push. Build your strength up with yang push hands. Then
do push hands softer not as rough.
Yin push hand
Palm is turned up and pull him into your centre as you go in
at the waist.
Two Ways to Push
1. Yang Push Power comes
from the back leg. Attack when the opponent makes a mistake.
2. Yin Attacking (Like repulse
monkey) Power comes from front leg.
You can defend against the elbow, shoulder and head attacks.
If opponent makes a mistake E.g.: His hand lands to his centre you can attack
with a push, Yin or Yang.
If he tries to grab your hand (wrist) make your hand Yin don’t try
to pull your hand out with a force toward you, go with the direction of
the pull, you can use the folding principle and use your elbow to strike
for example the chest area (CV14).
If someone attacks your wrist
you attack with the elbow,
If they attack the elbow fold and attack with the shoulder,
If they attack your shoulder attack with your head.
Knees are always positioned over the toe line on the yang leg (the heavy
leg), to prevent knee damage.

a low punch
Pull an opponent and p'eng Slip attack

regard the attacking hand as a punch.
Push, pong and pull down. You can change direction whenever you want, then
continue normal push hands.
Four techniques - p'eng, lu, choi, ang.
Locks and holds can be applied, E.g.: Wrist locks, you can defend against
a wrist lock by pushing your palm into his face. Hammer locks.
Yin Push Hands and Stepping
Move
the Yin leg to get out of the way of the force, if your weight is on the
front leg move the back leg, if on the back leg move the front leg. Only
move the Yin leg.
Sink your weight and stay centred. Use Fa-jing attacks with great force
and energy to get power over a short distance.
Uprooting technique Look for tension then push, then push lifting the
person up.
Chen Style Push Hands Opposite feet are forward
E.g.: Opponents left foot is forward,
your right foot is forward, vice versa. Erle believes Yang Style is an evolution
of Chen Style and is superior.
Pushing Feet - Join feet at the Achilles tendon, pushing feet develop
very strong leg techniques
Pushing hands - develop upper body and hand techniques
Block and kick with your feet
crescent kick - block with your leg by lifting it up.
Roundhouse kick - bring your knee up to damage the kickers leg.
Straight kick - lift leg up.
You can work out your own practice techniques for Push Feet. All kicks can
be practiced without hurting each other.
Da-Lu - The classics say Da-Lu can save you when you do something
wrong. A technique of Da-Lu step to the side and re-attack coming in again
with great force E.g.: Someone pulls you down and you can break out and
attack, you step to the side and re-attack.
Four Corners
Push Hands (Choi) techniques - Inch energy or pull down, use an arch
motion.
Chi Sau - Tai Chi method of push hands, attack and defend techniques,
sensitivity and awareness training. Move from Push Hands and Chi Sau and
vice versa. You can add kicks, it becomes more difficult. Start moving around
for really advanced and difficult.
